For Council Period 24, the Office of the Budget Director is excited to unveil a new fiscal impact statement (FIS) format designed to make the information more clear, accessible, and transparent for members, staff, and the public. First, each FIS will have a sidebar with identifying information about the measure (i.e. the short title, requesting member, etc.) and simple conclusion about its fiscal impact. The body of the FIS will continue to contain a more detailed conclusion statement that expands upon what is in the sidebar and a background section outlining the provisions of the measure and providing the analysis of its fiscal impact. In both sections, we have worked to standardize language where possible and streamline the organization to further improve the delivery of this information.
